"The Sons of The American Legion exists to honor the service and sacrifice of Legionnaires. We strengthen the four pillars of The American Legion, uphold the legacy of those who have served, and carry forward the values of freedom and democracy to future generations."
At Post 569 in Milan, Illinois, the Sons of The American Legion continue the proud tradition that began when this Post was chartered on August 14, 1920. We are the sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons of those who served — bound by blood and duty to ensure their legacy endures.
Our Commitment
Upholding the values of patriotism, honor, and civic duty by participating in flag ceremonies, memorial services, and community celebrations that honor our nation's heritage.
Volunteering at VA medical centers and veterans' homes, providing comfort and companionship to those who have served, and raising funds for veteran rehabilitation programs.
Strengthening the American Legion family by assisting Posts, Auxiliaries, and Riders with membership drives, fundraising events, and community outreach initiatives.
Guiding the next generation through programs that teach leadership, citizenship, and the importance of giving back to the community and honoring those who serve.

Eligibility
Membership is open to all male descendants — sons, stepsons, grandsons, and great-grandsons — of members of The American Legion, as well as males adopted by Legionnaires, and such males as were members of The American Legion who have since passed.
